WHO WE ARE

Merriam Engineering & Design was founded by brothers Angus and Richard Merriam in 2017.

We are qualified industrial designers with over 15 years of experience in the development of consumer and industrial products. Customers all around the world can rely on us to create complex technical solutions and work with them strategically throughout the entire product development process. We are analytical and agile in our work whist always having our eyes on the bigger picture.

With one office in Germany and another in the UK, we are perfectly placed to work with companies operating globally.

PRODUCT DESIGN

When designing the outer form of products for our customers, we focus on optimum usability and precise brand
communication, without losing sight of the product realisation along the way. We guide our customers from the initial design phase all the way through to the CAD drafting stage.

PRODUCT VISUALISATION

We use photo quality visualisation to help our customers communicate the shape, texture and colour of their products effectively. State of the art software allows us to generate images and animations without having to build costly and time consuming models.

ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT

For a product to really work, we have to think about human interaction tailored to optimum usability. We use ergonomic standards and research based on full-sized mock-ups to create compelling product concepts with impressive ergonomics at the very start of a project.

BRANDING STRATEGY

We support our clients in sharpening their brand values and generating a successful external impact with a
high degree of differentiation from their competition. To achieve this, we develop cross product family design
elements and modern features with a high recognition value that leave a lasting impact.

CONSTRUCTION & ENGINEERING

Designing and developing complex product structures and innovative architectures is what we do best. We work side by side with our customers to progress the initial spark of a concept to a fully-fledged design, ready for prototyping. Precision engineering and product cooling systems are other areas in which we excel.

MECHANICAL PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE

We analyse products and systems with a view to using a modular approach to systematically identify and classify every interface, feature and function. This strategy makes product development efficient and economical, resulting in a systematic structure that can be taken as the basis for entire product ranges.

MCAD

At the implementation stage, we produce production ready CAD data for our customers. We design every component parametrically, which allows us to respond quickly to changes and new conditions. This applies whether we are working on an initial design concept or an assembly at the final design stage.

PROBLEM ANALYSIS

With the help of our many years of experience, we identify and evaluate possible project risks for our clients early on in a project. The insights gained from this are directly interwoven into the course of the project to effectively minimise future risks.

TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION

Transparency is our middle name! For every product, we provide our customers with a detailed document pack containing the relevant parts lists and technical drawings of every component and assembly.

When it comes to technical project management, we can take care of a project from planning to completion. We coordinate everyone involved to keep them on track with their work and monitor the project progress every single step of the way. That means we can tick all the boxes when it comes to time, costs and quality – no matter how complex the project.
